Learn More About the Awards

EDWIN H. SUTHERLAND AWARD

This is the Association’s highest honor for professional achievement. Named after the man who coined the phrase “White Collar Crime” during a 1939 address to the American Sociological Society, this award is granted to someone who has performed an outstanding service to the public, or who has made a major contribution to the advancement of the anti-fraud profession.

FOUNDERS AWARD

This award was named to capture the spirit of the founding members of the Association of Certified Fraud Specialists. This award recognizes the critical qualities of integrity, knowledge and dedication to service in a Certified Fraud Specialist. Recipients of this award are considered to embody Certified Fraud Specialist designation.

SENTINEL AWARD

This award was named to recognize that anti-fraud professionals must always exercise vigilance in the performance for their duties. It is awarded to a recipient whose vigilance and performance are considered in keeping with the highest ideals of the Association’s Founders.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

This award was named to recognize chapter members or officers who have distinguished themselves in some manner. The method of being distinguished may be in service to the chapter, in service to the community, or may be in some professional capacity that brought credit and honor to the Association.

FELLOW MEMBERSHIP STATUS

This special membership status is designed to recognize Certified Fraud Specialists for their service to the Association and/or public. Recognizing that our organization rests upon the voluntary efforts and services of our members, and that our members represent the Association in their day-to-day dealings with the public, this award changes their status from a Regular Member to that of a Fellow. All of the honorees’ rights and benefits remain intact, with the exception that his or her dues are cut in half from that date forward. This allows the Association to recognize, in a tangible way, the outstanding service provided to the Association by our members. This special membership status is covered in Article IV, Section 2 of the Association’s National Bylaws.
