When I am relying upon an expert witness in my case presentation, I want their credibility before a fact-finder to be unassailable. Certification by a not-for-profit like the ACFS enhances that credibility because of its independence and uniform standards of admission.

I am looking at potential second careers. Recently, a CPA who is a partner in one of the five remaining big CPA firms spoke to our field office. A former FBI agent himself, he stressed that some type of certification is extremely important for anyone engaging in a profession where they may be expected to testify as an expert. Those were my reasons for joining the ACFS and petitioning for the Certified Fraud Specialist designation.

Having just made the transition from a long career in public law enforcement to private corporate security/investigations, I am convinced that my certification as a CFS was influential to my selection for a management position in a Fortune 500 company.
I was the hiring choice out of a candidate pool of over 700 applicants. I recommend ACFS to colleagues in both the public and private sectors as a vehicle to enhance their professional standing and marketability in today's competitive job market.

I joined the ACFS because I felt like it was the only organization that meets the needs of the entire spectrum of individuals involved in anti-fraud activities. I became involved because I believe in the its mission.
The ACFS is The professional organization for people involved in anti-fraud activities. It is the best organization for those who want to develop expertise and professionalism in fraud prevention, fraud detection and fraud investigation. It is also the best place to be if you want to contribute to society, to give something back and make a difference as a professional.

I liked what the ACFS organization stands for as well as how it is structured - it is an organization organized for the benefit of its members and the public rather than for the benefit of its organizers.
Another important factor in my deciding to join and support the ACFS is the availability of reasonably priced, quality training. The Training is not academic or theoretical but instead provides practical, usable information that I can apply in my everyday work.
