Mission

The Association of Certified Fraud Specialists, Inc. is an educational, non-profit corporation. The Association was formed for the purposes of:

Fostering, a national forum and governing body for the affiliation of professionals who offer to the public, governments and employers their expertise in the areas of fraud prevention, fraud detection and fraud investigation;

Propagating, through a process of accreditation, review and continuing education, the Certified Fraud Specialist (CFS) designation in the United States amongst its members, and to the general public, as a symbol of the highest, independent standard of excellence in its field;

Pursuing, for the benefit of its members and for the benefit of the public at large, the development, provision, or sponsoring of education programs and serving as an advocate for the anti-fraud profession by articulating concerns on fraud issues before legislative, administrative and judicial branches of local, state and federal governments;

Serving, the public by endeavoring to provide a variety of pro bono services throughout the United States;

Contributing, to the advancement of the profession through development and promulgation of fraud detection, fraud deterrence and fraud investigation principles and standards;

Developing, organizing and presenting educational events which promote appropriate utilization of techniques to reduce criminal activity;

Promoting, the observance of professional standards and ethics, and;

Establishing, chapters throughout the United States and its territories which shall, on a local level, pursue the Association's objects and purposes for the benefit of Association members and for the benefit of the public at large.
